The past week and a half I've been really stepping it up a notch on my button creations. Before leaving for our road trip I managed to check out a couple of stores that they would be perfect in. Then, while on our trip, I found 3 other stores that would also be good matches. Irish Goddesses husband suggested that I try to get them in gallery stores and museum stores, which never once crossed my mind. So, while we were all at the sculpture garden I made a mad dash through their gift shop and realized that he was right. Thanks to my fact-finding missions, I now have 5 potential candidate stores to send samples to. I'm feeling really positive about the whole thing.
Now I'm focusing on the packaging. I've designed a card to put them on which I'm really happy with but I'm still not sure if I want them to go in boxes or if I should leave them as they are. One thing is very clear though: I need to use a professional printer and a high grade of paper. I went to Kinko's before we left for our trip and practically got in a wrestling match with the staff. Those people are idiots! Because they didn't want to get off of their lazy butts, they told me that they couldn't open the file on my cd. So, I ended up printing them at home on some cardstock that I had lying around. They look like hell, but since they are only mock-ups, I can live with that.
So, I'm just trekking along here and trying to make something happen. I now have about 6 ideas for the product line and I'm eager to get working on some of the others. It would be nice if I could have a couple of different products ready to go once I finally approach the stores.
That's where I am in life right now. Just trying to make something better for myself. Oh how lovely it would be if I could quit writing and just make fun stuff all day long!
