I should just change my blog's name to The Button Blog. That's all that I seem to talk about these days. Well, believe me when I say that I have been a non-stop button factory of sorts! Yesterday I woke up early and headed out to a rummage sale that I had been eagerly anticipating. Of course, I was in search of buttons, but alas, there were no buttons to be had. So today I woke up early again and went to the flea market for my regular fix. This time I felt good about my purchase to be since I'm actually using the buttons now and not just collecting them to fill a hole in my life or something. I swear that I had a dream last night that the button lady would not be there today, so when I got there and failed to find her I wasn't the least bit surprised. I was bummed though! So, I remembered from the last week that I was there that there was a booth with a tin of buttons for sale. Last week the tin seemed overpriced to me (or at least out of my price range) but today, faced with a button drought for the week to come, I made a bee line to the booth and found the tin right away. Since I had already looked through it last week I didn't bother going through it again. I just picked up the tin, flagged down the vendor and asked him how much for the whole tin. He said that he was planning on selling the buttons individually so he had no idea how much the entire tin would cost. Last week when I asked him that question the answer was a firm $40.00. Duh, couldn't he remember? So I patiently stood there while he went through the entire tin and feigned disinterest so that he wouldn't see me salivating and jack up the price. I actually pretended to be looking around for my husband so I didn't even pay any attention to what he was doing. But, inside my heart was pounding and I'm pretty sure that lovely beads of sweat had popped up on my forehead. Finally, after he had returned all of the buttons to the tin he again asked me how much I was willing to pay. My answer? $20.00. He came back with a "How about $25.00?" and, remembering his $40.00 price tag last week I said, "Sold!" As I was counting out my money I told him that I had seen the buttons last week. He looked at me funny and said, "I haven't been here in over a month." Ummm... Then what in the hell did I just buy????? Oh hell!!!!!! I'm thinking to myself, "Bruno is going to kill me!"
When I actually got a chance to sit down and go through the buttons I was shocked at what was in there! Bakelite buttons on their original sheets! Huge ones! And perfect ones! It was like all of my fantasies wrapped up in one rusted out tin with an ugly cornucopia picture on the lid! Check out my loot:

So, I spent the evening creating more treasures. I still don't have a concrete plan yet on how I'm going to go about selling them, but if you are truly dying to know what I'm up to, email me and I send you a picture. I'm just not ready to post pictures on my site yet. Soon enough folks! I promise!
